Dear Patients,
For the past several years our staff at ICAM has been assisting many of you in obtaining preauthorization for various therapies and prescriptions. To do this requires a minimum of three hours per day for my staff’s time with a success rate of less than 10% in obtaining the approval. Please note that the savings to those people requesting this preauthorization is usually less than $30 to $50 over a period of one to three months. For these reasons and because of the need to utilize our staff more appropriately and efficiently, as of December 1st, 2021, we will no longer be providing this service to ANY of our patients regardless of if we did so in the past. At your visits you are given a copy of your lab results. They are also obtainable through a patient portal set up with the specific lab you use. With this information, you can do try to negotiate with your healthcare insurance company or agent to obtain this preauthorization approval. In the past, some patients have contacted their Union representative for reimbursement of things like pellets and other IV therapies that are not covered by non-union policies. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, but I can assure you that we will continue to give you the excellent care that you are accustomed to receiving here at ICAM.
